MSORMAN Session 5: Value Chain

Before we start to this value chain topic, there was another individual presentation shared from my classmate in MIS. It was about cloud computing. There I remembered the time way back on my college days wherein I also proposed to present cloud computing as a look into future technology for our college magazine. Only chosen topics will be presented and mine was chosen.

I’ve been using Dropbox app for my projects and there I also learned virtual servers in cloud computing – SDN (Software Defined Networking). So when we had project which topic to discuss individually, I presented this SDN. Still sort of concept on that time but now anyone are using cloud computing, might be for institutions, universities or companies.

Cloud computing is becoming a trend. Though there are issues when it comes to risk and security but there lot of solutions created. Hoping to see more projects with this kind of technology

Now let’s go to value chain, were actually choosing what company should we choose if its telecommunication or service as a software. Then there we chose SAS.

Attached is the link about our presentation, MSORMAN: Value Chain

Realization:

Value chain includes a business primary activities and choosing SAS for our presentation, its primary activities and how does it provide business with their clients were the activities we came up to create this value chain. It is how you create value within organization and the more value an organization creates, the more profitable it is likely to be. And when you provide more value to your customers, you build competitive advantage.

Based on Porter’s Value Chain, “A value chain is a set of activities that an organization carries out to create value for its customers.” With the help of this website, this is where I learned how to create this value chain we presented. Along with this, there are elements and tools how it can help you understand the sources of value for your organization.
